Connected in more ways than one
As Babcock Ranch continues to grow, so will its trail system which will have about 50 miles of pedestrian interconnectivity consisting of streetscape, urban and nature trails. This combination provides a framework for bicycle travel to any of the town’s destinations and will eventually connect to the local facilities and regional priority trail connectors.
A one-of-a-kind resident amenity, the trail system can be used not only for transportation and leisure, but also to be immersed in untouched nature. On any adventure, you can expect to see a variety of species that utilize the large, linked greenways, including wading birds, gopher tortoises and river otters.

Currently there are about eight miles of dedicated streetscape and feature trails, including Sunset Trail at Dick Cuda Park. The next major segment will be about three miles along Curry Lake Canal, set to open in early 2019 with its trailhead located at Jack Peeples Park. One side of the canal is made up of non-paved historic roads used since the ranch’s early days for agricultural purposes. On the other side is the canal’s berm, a natural surface with several boardwalks that cross old cattle crossings and drainage conveyances.
Another future addition and feature trail will be The Solar Circuit, about 13.1 miles connecting to the Eco-Tour Footprints Trail and passing by the FPL Solar Energy Centers observation tower and solar field. In line with Babcock Ranch’s commitment to preservation, a conservation easement will be placed across the natural trail system to ensure its current character remains.
With so much rich history and habitat at Babcock Ranch, the trail system will be a beautiful way for residents and visitors to experience and learn about it all.
